Old paint can chip, flake or peel leaving behind a shallow depression. This guide will teach you how to repair these spots before painting as new coats of paint will not hide the depression. Use a fast-drying patching compound to fill the hole.
WHAT YOU NEED FOR THIS PROJECT
Apply the spackling compound to the edges of the chipped paint with a putty knife or wallboard knife.
The patched places should feel smooth to the touch and not have any edges. If the walls have a textured surface you may need to texture the patched areas to match.
Material I used for this project:

- Wallboard knife ()
- Sanding block ()
- 150-grit sandpaper ()
