Okay you know that feeling when you say you'll go with someone to a wedding of someone you've never met before? Well I'll never forget when I sat at the table for dinner and this sweet woman across from me started talking about Buttermilk pie and then for her to share this recipe, I couldn't be more grateful. This was just last month and my family has enjoyed this pie several times now. Thank you Carol Hamilton for sharing.

Buttermilk Pie Recipe- Given to me by Carol Hamilton


9" Unbaked pie shell

1/2 Cup Buttermilk

3 Eggs

1 1/2 cups Sugar

1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract

1 Stick Butter (1/2 cup) Melted

Preheat Oven to 350

Add Buttermilk, Eggs, Sugar and Vanilla Extract to Blender and Liquify for 4 minutes. Melt butter and add to blended ingredrients. Liquify for 3 minutes.  Pour into unbaked pie shell and bake for approximately 40 minutes.  Make sure Top is browned, it may need just a few more minutes. Center will be a bit jiggly but will set once refrigerated. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. This pie is best when it is nice and cold. Talk about Heaven in a pie shell, WOW!! So impressed by the simplicity of this recipe and the taste is out of this world. Thanks to Carol for sharing and next time I'll try sprinkling a bit of nutmeg on top as Carol suggested, sounds great!!!

You can use an unbaked frozen pie crust or make your own pie crust, either way this pie is a hit.
