Red, white, & blue firecracker painting

Step 1
Project Note: Cover a table (or other working surface) with newspapers.

Cut slits halfway up a craft tube to create long fringe around the entire craft tube. Take the long fringe strips and press them out against a table or your other hand. This will spread the fringe strips out horizontally from the center of the tube. Repeat for more tubes, if desired.
Step 2
Pour a generous amount of Mod Podge® onto a paper plate (or palette paper).
Step 3
Choose a piece of the poster board and lay it in front of you on the covered table.
Step 4
Dip the fringe strips of the tube into the Mod Podge® and press (or tap) and twirl it onto the poster board. Lift the tube and set aside.
Step 5
Pour glitter over the wet Mod Podge® and shake off excess to make one “firework”.
Step 6
Repeat Steps 4 and 5 for more “fireworks”. Let the entire artwork dry, then tap off any excess glitter. Set aside.
Step 7
To make the display board, measure 1″ in all the way around the 16″ x 20″ canvas board, then tape off, leaving a 1″ border.
Step 8
Paint the border black. Let dry and add an additional coat if desired.
Step 9
Paint two clothespins red and let dry.
Step 10
Measure and mark the board 2½” in from the left border and ¾” down from the top. Place one of the red clothespins at the mark and hot glue into place. Measure and mark the board 2½” in from the right border and ¾” down from the top. ADULT: Place one of the red clothespins at the mark and hot glue into place. Clip artwork onto the clips and display.
